Blink Pro App Reviews

Great VOIP solution

This is really the best VOIP solution for the MAC (I didnt try it on Windows). Easy to get started with and if it comes to specific configuration details with certain SIP providers it has all the options that may need adjusted. Their support is also outstanding. They got into a VOIP conference with me to find the solution for a weird configuration issue. 29 bucks spent well - thanks guys!

Great App

Excellent, reliable SIP Softphone with lots of configurability. Developers are responsive and capable and will help solve any setup / integration issues you have in short order.

Crashes on startup

This latest version crashes on startup.

No telephone tech support, no refund

I got the Blink Pro and due to unusal setup screens, had a problem to longin in to my existing SIP account on RingCentral. I have tried and isntall Isoftphone, Bria 3, LifeSize, ExpressTalk, and several other soft phones, but none where so difficult and inconvenient. I start looking for tech support but in it only available via e-mail or forum. I have not got any answers for over 2 hours after I have e-mailed my letter to them. In summary: No clear manual or installation instructions, If you get stuck nobody will help you right away, And if at the end of the day you cannot connect to your SIP account or make the software work, you will not get your money back. Frastrating, unsuitable for busness environment when you do not have all day to play wiht the softphone software. If the Blink company will not fix at list the initial post sale installation support, it is not a very good product for business and there are better options.

Will not run on OS X 10.12

Of all the SIP clients Ive used, this is about the best. I still feel its awefully expensive, but its one of the few that offered full Address Book compatibility, SIP TLS, and SRTP. The UI is a bit awkward. And under 10.11 it would crash when hanging up on a call. With 10.12, it will not run at all.

no incoming calls

i love the app and its very feature rich. It is the best sip client thus far, but i can’t get it to receive incoming calls. I also purschased isoftphone sip client and i have incoming calls come through that client, so i know that it isnt my SIP provider. please help

Can’t transfer calls

Got this version after trying out Blink Lite, in hopes of being able to transfer calls. Unable to transfer calls, this version also seems to only recognize incoming calls half the time. regretting this purchase.

DOES NOT WORK ON MacOS SIERRA

After upgrading to Sierra, the program crashes upon opening. I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared all preference files, nothing works. I’ve reached out to the developers with no response a week later.

Blink is a well-executed SIP client for Mac OS X

Having used many, many SIP softphones over the years, I tried an early version of Blink on OS X and thought it was a good first start but the implementation of the G.722 wideband codec was not too good, the client was somewhat buggy, and it ate up CPU resources on my MacBook Pro. However, I downloaded Blink Pro from the Mac App store and Im very pleasantly surprised to see these problems have all been fixed. Blink Pro is a solid, well executed SIP client. The audio quality is very good, and is actually excellent between phones that support the wideband G.722 codec. The SIP compatibility is excellent as it uses the well regarded open source PJSIP SIP stack. It has strong integration into the OS X world. For example, it uses Bonjour for truly zero configuration setup for clients on a local area network. It also pulls in contacts from the Addressbook app. Finally, there are a lot of advanced features including video conferencing and screen sharing. And I can see that there is plumbing in place for some really advanced features including secure SIP with TLS and SRTP, shared contacts with XCAP, and more.

Very Pooor Customer Service Attitude

We are a service provider in Canada looking for a qualiy softphone for our clients. The Blink Pro product appeared promising, but after some interaction with the parent co. Ag-Projects, I felt compelled to write my first ever review! Dont Buy. Even the vendor suggested we used a competing solution from an alternative supplier :) Maybe the best advise ever given. How do you get a refund?

Best Softphone for OSX - Period

I am a voip enthusiast and professional consultant specializing in open-standards SIP (voip) solutions for businesses. Since its inception in 2010 I have been a blink user. The blink soft phone is the absolute best soft phone available for OSX period. First order of importance easy-to-use; in terms of usability; its is fantastic. It integrates well with your existing mac contacts; You do not need to be a SIP expert or even have to know what SIP is to use this phone. There are some interesting nuances about this phone you wont find in any other soft phone such as the lack of a dial pad. This unique approach takes a little getting used to but once you are familiar improves your productivity. Its elegant and lacks clumsy features found in your typical soft phone. I recently upgraded to the professional version which included some essential functionality that I felt I needed. Features like call transfer. In blink lite call transfer is not available but mostly everything else is. I have not really investigated the exact differences in the two products that will be left up to you; but for my needs this soft phone is absolutly the best. Important must have features inlcuded in both versions are HD voice - high definition g722 outstanding voice quality; Call-Transfer - available only in blink pro important if you need to send a call to your office mate; Chat - both versions offer SIP chat as well as some other advanced chat features if you use the sip2sip.info service provided; Usability - sleek elegant design. Standards-Compliant - works well with most if not all softswitches. Also important to mention that the customer support is really great when it comes to fixing bugs. Highly recommend trying even the lite version and upgrading as your needs change. Thanks for a great product.

New Echo Cancellation works great

On both a new 17" MBP, and a 2009 model with the microphone up by the camera, I can sit in con calls without having to toggle mute on and off any more! Great work, and works great with the PBX in a Flash distro as well as an old trixbox install.

Wow. The best SIP client for OSX. And a very helpful support!

Ive checked most SIP clients for OSX. Free or not. They all have some problems, missing features, etc. But not this one. Blink pro is a great SIP client. Takes all the others hands down. I had a small issue with caller ID on incoming calls. The developer responded to my ticket very fast and sent me a fix. I was very impressed with the app and the support.

Great SIP software, possibly the best Ive used

Ived tried lots of SIP softphones and Ive stuck with Blink. I rarely have problems, and usually I trace it back to my VOIP provider. I love being able to have multiple profiles. Google Voice addition would be great. The only issue Ive had has been a recurring problem with echo noise cancellation. Other than that, great stuff!

Best Mac Softphone.

I have tried every SIP phone available. This app is seriously powerfull, and not complicated like other apps. The drag and drop feature for transfering and conferencing is seriously cool, an much more effiecient. I had a feature request upon purchasing, and when I emailed their customer support, they had responded within 12 hours. Integrated with our companys Asterisk system perfectly. Address book integration was excellent. I only wished they would have had a free version for trial purposes. I took the leap, and was glad I did.

Great SIP client

We use Blink Pro as the primary soft phone for our call center and we love it. The interface is very "Mac" and intuitive to use and doesnt get in your way. It has all the features you would expect of a professional SIP client and maybe some you wouldnt! Multiple calls, transfers, and conferences are all handled elegantly and smoothly. It worked out of the box with our existing SIP server, and the free sip2sip.info service is also a great perk. The developers are very responsive both on the mailing list and with direct support questions. I have seen both bug fixes and new features added to the program as the result of user requests, and updates are made available quickly and regularly. Two relatively new features I really like are the speech announcement of incoming calls and the ability to save post-dial sequences (ie touch tone menu navigation) with contacts.

Great if it works with your SIP provider, but it might not

The software is beautiful, and feature-rich. Sadly, it is extremely brittle with respect to implementation of SIP standards, and so it simply wont work with many SIP providers. We use a Mitel switch -- and Mitel is a pretty large and common provider. But it just wont work with Blink Pro, although several competing products work just fine. And there is no way to get a refund. So you might just be out $50 bucks. Now I am going to try Bria 3. Wish me luck.

Amazing app

My Mac is now complete with this app. It has VoiceOver support for which I am amazingly grateful. Echo cancellation the best Ive ever used. And for the review that said Blink has a brittle implementation of SIP, well its the absolute opposite. The developers know their stuff and when they say state of the art, its not exaggerated. A couple of things I would love to see implemented: 1. Video Support in H264; 2. Some adaptive wide band codecs, SILK could be an excellent choice; 3. Support for XMPP, usable in place of messaging over SIP; 4. Remote provisioning of SIP profiles and removal of SIP2SIP.info (fine on a free app, not on a paid app worth 50 bucks); 5. Faxing over SIP; 6. Shortcut to arbitrarily send call to VoiceMil; 7. Possibility to bridge incoming calls into an already active conference without the need of putting the conference on hold; 8. The Bonjour account should be renamed something more generic to express standalone use, in order to include Bonjour and SIP URI dialing support; 9. Possibility to disable unused app features (E.g.: screen sharing); 10. Settable system wide shortcuts to answer and end a call; 11. Transfer / Divert / Forward incoming call while ringing (Bria Style); 12. Enhance addressbook integration; 13. Support for play / pause shortcut capture to enable remote pickup and hangup with headset that support music control; 14. Option to automatically record all calls, settable application wide or on a per account basis.

Call quality

Nice app, works well most of the time. After its been running a day or so I always get complaints about being very crackly and they can barely hear me. Every single time all I do is close the app and reopen and its fixed.

Issues and no place to file bugs

There use to be a way to contact support and file a bug, this seems no longer to be the case. There is a wiki, but no obvious way to put in a support request. If a call comes in and you dont answer it the app leaves the audio device open. If you have an external usb headset the light will continue to blink until you quit blink. Other apps which may wish to set different audio parameters will have unexpected results while this is occurring.
